rock/pop/indie album cover (examples)

These are examples of indie covers, the artist element is defiantly the shared feature between them, the artist face so not appear on these album, as graphical art abstract and modern art pieces are on the covers of these albums. Independent bands and musician focus on the portrayal and image of the music more then the artist.
I will incorporate these abstract styles in my own album using work from my art alevel, however as my artist is a rock/pop/indie, and pop albums feature the artist face in the album cover so people familiarise with the artist face as an image. Therefore i may incorporate both my artist face and abstract art work into my final digipak front cover.

End result would be similar to this album cover.

Just to get an idea

CoverArts.com is a new site that lets visitors vote up cd and book cover designs. You can view covers by most recent additions or by highest rated. At least one new cover design is added every day. CD cover design has it's own unique design challenges - sometimes conceptual, other times it's creating a style for an artist photo or photos.

Each cover is tagged with genre or type, so you can search for just Rock or Hip/Hop covers with a simple click. Cool.

Rolling Stone best twenty-five album covers

I thought it would be interesting to see the best titled album and singles covers in the music industry. There are taken from different music genre, each with its individual style and creativity.

digipack research

A digipak has the size and look of a CD jewel case but it is made of paper stock with a plastic tray glued to hold the CD. With a typical clear tray, a digipak has 4-panels for putting the artwork on. One advantage of digipak over jewel case is that it has better shock absorption than jewel case. When a jewel case is dropped it breaks. But a digipak will still be in one piece even it is dropped.

Lip Synching Activity (glee style)

we this this at the beginning of term just to get an idea and a practice on the art of lip syncing - we got in groups ,learnt a the lyrics of a song then performed it while lip syncing - then we edited it to the movement of our mouths went with the words in the song. it was loads of fun and we look abit lame but it was definitely good practice and gave us all an idea on lip syncing.
