Question 4

4.How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Research

Research - I have used search engines and data/information collector website such as Wikipedia , google, YouTube and slide share.
I used slide share to search for camera angles and movements presentations made by other Media students in which i then made my own.
I used google a lot to research production company and artist image.
I used YouTube to research real media productions, then analysing them to get an idea of the key forms and conventions of chosen music genre.






Planning

 After i researched genre, and key conventions of music video , i started to plan my own. In which me and my group used blogger througth out this to keep an update on the process we made and use elements of the planning in out production.
I also used Microsoft Movie Maker to create simple test videos to test our concepts and camera work. We then used YouTube to upload these video for the rest of the class to watch and give us feedback on them.



Production and Evaluation

During the production and editing of my video i use a Apple Mac computers, which were very useful due to there professional programmers that helped us edit our footage to the best of quality.


We used Adobe Premier to edit the video, as we were then able to cut, sync music to artist lip syncing, color correct the footage and add effects.

I also used Adobe Photoshop, to create my digipak and album poster, as it allowed me to manipulated scanned art work into a digital enhanced media product.

3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?

 
Audience feedback to me was very important as it allowed me to look at my work in a critical way, taking peoples comments and feedback into consideration to improve on my music video. I realised how people may notice the smallest detail that may not have crossed my mind, as feedback was quiet interesting from coming from a Varity of different age groups and gender. While the sixteen plus students gave more mature, thoughtful feedback, I found the year 9 feedback more useful as they didn’t think to much into it and didn’t try to come with clever comments, they pinpointed simple details that would make a difference on how I looked at my production.


I have received audience feed back, on three basic, the use of a questionnaire which I emailed to people. Verbal live feedback from a year nine class as they watched the video (me being covert at the back jotting notes) and my teacher and class feedback, after I presented my idea, narrative and production to them.







The first audience feedback was from my media class, and were very critical of my first story narrative, concept of stop motion. The idea of my music video, in the audience view seems unpractical and complex – more of a creative art of film production then a music video. My class commented that there is no focus on artist and not a clear story line. This was very effective as I come to take the criticism on board and completely changed my concept and narrative.

After I have produced by video, I have conducted audience feedback research out of the circle of my media class, feedback from people that did not go through the process of film production, therefore would be highly critical and would compare our video to real media productions and would therefore certain features in it.

Audience from the same age group of me gave positive comments about the creativity, and professionalism of the video. Most people commented on the washed out quality of the film –and certain shots that I have taken that had added edge and originality to my video. I had no critical comment from the age group between 16-20.
It appreciated positive comments that showed I had put a lot of thought and effort into my production, however I wanted someone to point of the flaws which I could Clearly see and others that I couldn’t. The media GCSE year 9 classes did just that. They commented on the parts that dragged for a long time, and other shots that made the “watchers a bit dizzy”. There comments were genuine and helpful, and I took them aboard.

I would have like to get public feedback; from YouTube users for example however our video was only just posted on the site.

 1.“7 am wakin’ up in the morning”, artist sings this as she wakes up from bed in this scene .Therefore there is a link between the lyrics and the visual. ‘Friday’- Rebecca Black



2. this shot shows the artist sitting in an old urban building wearing cloths that reprent the the Rnb scene such as heavy jewerly (refered to as bling) and a cap. This shot therefore typies the way the record company want their artsist to be represented, ganagster culture related. ‘Like Toy Soldiers’-Eminem.

3. This shot shows two rockers wearing black at the background drumming, with two disturbed looking metal masks – these are used to illustrate the heavy metal rock music genre in the video. ‘Before I forget’- Slipknot.


4. interextual refenerce can be seen in this shot, as alice and wonderland teaparty seems to be the inspiration for this scene. ’Nobody’s Perfect’-Jessie J.


5. there is a clear use of camera angle in this hsot, as the artist is captueed in a hight angle shot , making her look so what unverable. ‘Nobody’s Perfect’- Jessie J.


6. a spot light is used here to focus on the actors face and darken blacken his surrounding, this demonstrates the use of lighting in this shot. ‘Dead to right’-Devil Driver.


7.there is a clear demonstration of mise-en-scene, as the use of costume with the actors and the lighting are all use and are compliable with each other in order to create a staged performance, this is shown in this hsot. ‘Can’t be Tamed’- Miley Cyrus.


8/9. I can link this to shot to my own video, in a way that 8. Shows how taking shots of road/shops/commercial signs, escially if they comilment but not neccassiary link to rest of the video. Signs in ther noen, printed or painted forms can add egde espically if they read quirky phrase/word. 9. Is is also a shot that is quiet similar to one that i can taken for my music video, as the shot capurtues the industrial, urban side of a city. These two shots i felt were parrel to some that i have taken and therefore demonstrate that i have watched other music video as part of reaserch. 8. ‘Rhythm of Love’- Plain White Ts and 9. ‘We Cry’- The Script.
